Sterile Stainless Steel Forceps

The Sterile Stainless Steel Forceps is used for emergency clamping of the cord should need arise. This is useful if the bitch has a retained placenta, but puppy has been born with cord attached to placenta.

Two pieces of forceps are required in cases of retained placentas. A forceps clamps the cord close to mum’s vulva to stop placenta from going back up. The other forceps clamps the placenta at about 1.3 cm  from the puppy’s belly. The puppy is then detached from the dam just after the forceps with the aid of the Sterile Stainless Steel Scissors.

This is a replacement to the Sterile Stainless Steel Forceps in the Puppy Whelping kit, should you need another one to replace the ones that come with your kit.
